The federal Legal Services Corporation is a critical source of support for legal aid in Illinois. LSC provided $12.5 million in funding for three Illinois organizations last year: LAF, Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation, and Prairie State Legal Services. The proposed elimination of LSC funding from the federal budget would leave many areas of the state without meaningful access to legal help.
